Samian from a building site.
A building site at Herne Bay, just being developed, produced a Samian sherd (Form 37) decorated with a vine leaf, among the remains of a large olla crushed by the dreaded JCB on February 28. (NGR TR 1861 6815). Nearby two sherds of a grey beaker were also recovered on March 4. The site is exactly on the 100-foot contour, just downhill from the Dence Park site referred to in a note in KAR 11, February 1968. The development of this site will be watched and future discoveries noted.
