Flint Hand Axe from Langdon, near Dover.
This fine flint axe was found last summer by Mr Jones, proprietor of the Star Newsagent, Ladywell, Dover. Mr Jones was walking his dog along the edge of a ploughed field at Langdon Battery, near Dover (NGR TR 345 435) when he stumbled over something. Turning to examine the offending object he recognised it as being a prehistoric axe. Eventually the object was shown to Mrs Coveney, curator of the Dover Museum who immediately arranged publication of the find in the KAR. The axe has since been sent to the British Museum where it awaits specialist study.
