Site-wide options:

WEDNESDAYS 8th and 15th April: Roman Mosaics.

Find out about Roman mosaics and make your own mosaic pattern to take home.

10.30am to 1pm and 2pm to 4.30pm.

No booking needed -- just 'pop-in'.

For 4-11 year olds.

Normal entry charges.

Children to be accompanied.

SUNDAY 26TH JULY: Festival of British Archaeology -- Life in the Roman Army.

Meet Lucius, a Roman legionary and Brinni, an auxiliary, and find out about their lives as Roman soldiers - with replica armour, weapons and equipment.

Children: dress as a soldier and join a Roman Legion! Diplomas awarded to those who learn how to drill.

10am to 4.30pm.

No booking needed -- just 'pop-in'.

Children to be accompanied.

Entry £2/£1 per person. YAC members free.

WEDNESDAYS IN AUGUST: Ancient Legends and Heroes.

Come along and listen to stories of ancient Greek heroes and their exciting adventures. Then make a picture all about it to take home.

  • 5th -- Pandora and the mystery box.
  • 12th -- Icarus flies too near the sun.
  • 19th -- How Persephone made Springtime.
  • 26th -- Theseus and the Minotaur.

Story reading starts at 10.30am and 2.30pm.

No booking needed.

Children to be accompanied.

FRIDAYS IN AUGUST: The Life of Roman boys and girls.

Discover how childern lived nearly 2,000 years ago! What Happened when a Roman baby was born? Experience a Roman lesson, learn some Latin and play a Roman game. Make a Roman child's lucky charm to take home and join in a quiz to win a Roman badge and certificate.

Sessions start at 10.30am and 2.30pm.

No booking needed.For 5-12 year olds.

Children to be accompanied.

Sunday 20th September -- 10am to 5pm. (NOTE NEW DATE.)

FREE ENTRY with special guided tours at 11am, 2.30pm, and 3.30pm with graphic displays and activities for children.
