Special Events at the Crofton Roman Villa 2013.

Wednesdays 3rd & 10th, and Fridays 5th & 12th, of April:
HEROIC ADVENTURES OF THE ANCIENT GODS!

With a story and making a collage or drawing and a clay offering or votive tablet.

Hear about the incredible Roman Gods: from Jupiter, King of the Gods to Iris, Goddess of the Rainbows. Find out how the Romans worshipped their Gods, and why they stopped. Then, hear an amazing story about one of the Gods and make a picture collage about it to take home.

Afterwards, you will have the chance to make a "votive offering" to the Gods, just like the Romans did—perfect for healing broken bones or cursing your worst enemy!

Sessions start at 10.30am and 2.00pm;
Children must be accompanied;
Charge: £4 per child, carers free;
No booking required.

Sunday 21st July
FESTIVAL OF BRITISH ARCHAEOLOGY — VILLA FAMILY FUN EVENT.

With a guided talk of the villa house for the adults, whilst the children have a demonstration session with artefacts, pictures and dressing up as Romans. This is then followed by a quiz to be completed together by adults and children—with a joint certificate and badge prizes for both! Part of the Council for British Archaeology - Festival of British Archaeology.

Sessions start at 10.30am and 2.00pm;
Children must be accompanied;
Charge: £1.50 adults, £1.00 concession, £4 family ticket (based on 4) —50p each additional child;
No booking required.

GROWING UP AS ROMAN CHILDREN!

Find out about Roman children from birth to marriage, including games and toys and joining in a Roman lesson. Make a Roman child's lucky charm and take part in a Roman Citizen's quiz to win your Roman citizen certificate and badge.

COSTUMES AND HORRIBLE HABITS THROUGH THE AGES.

DISCOVER SOME HORRIBLE HABITS! Find out about some fabulous fashions! Then make a collage picture of a fashionable historical character (from Celts to Victorians) and take home a Horrible Habits information sheet.
