Crofton Roman Villa has celebrated its 100,000th visitor!

A ROMAN villa in Bromley celebrated its 100,000th visitor last week. Around 50 children from Hayes School, West Common Road, in Hayes visited the Crofton Roman Villa on Friday (Oct 19) to celebrate the event and the special visitor, Teodor Wator, eight, received a certificate and a gift pack to commemorate the event. Secretary of Kent archaeological unit Edna Philp managed the school visit to the Villa, in Crofton Road, Orpington. She said: "The children were quite amazed. "We told them the story of how the remains were found in 1988 when a car park was due to be built.

"I think it's important for children to learn from the past and understand it through a range of ways. "They dressed up as Roman soldiers, made mosaics and wrote about the villa it so from the school's perspective, it helps with lots of different subjects."
